How to get started and staying motivated

Life is unpredictable, so if you run into a wall, don’t be too hard on yourself. Try to modify

First steps and sustaining motivation throughout the uphill journey of weight loss, physical fitness, or personal aspirations is, undoubtable , quite challenging yet exciting. Finding these very factors has been central in developing and sustaining my own motivation.

First Steps
1: Let Goals Be Clear: Let your objectives be well defined. Make them specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound (SMART).

2:Create a Plan: Break larger goals into smaller objectives to make them seem far less daunting and quite easier to monitor.

3: Start Small: Take small steps every day; begin with some easy-to-manage changes. It could be a 10-minute walk or adding a serving of vegetables to lunch or dinner.

4: Educate Yourself: Finding the ‘why’ behind your goal gives you the passion to do. Read a magazine that appeals to your interests, some books or watch a few videos.

5: Resources: Whether exercise gear, meal prep equipment, or apps that help you track progress, anything that helps to keep you on course with your goal will make that all-important first step a bit easier.
6:Stay Flexible: Life is unpredictable, so if you run into a wall, don’t be too hard on yourself. Try to modify your plan, if necessary.
7:Visualize Your Success: Vision board it or take the time to simply visualize what it will be like when you reach your goals.
8:Keep Learning: Carry on about your goal by simply learning about it. The new information can re-encourage you.
9:Mix It Up: Keep it fresh by trying out new activities or recipes for your goals. A little change promotes interest.
10:Stay Positive: Have that positive self-talk. Keep reminding yourself of your “why.” A positive mindset will help sustain motivation.
11:Reassess Regularly: Your goals and your progress should be reviewed periodically. Reassess the whole plan if necessary so that it remains relevant and fresh.
12:Have Fun on the Journey: Stay focused on the joy of the process instead of just the results. Enjoying the effort will make it easier to commit.
